A recent decision by Associated Press to publish a picture of a badly mutilated U.S. Marine lying on the ground dying with his legs severed after being struck by a rocket-propelled grenade is incomprehensible. Would a Vermont paper publish a picture of a local teen with his legs severed and dying inside a crashed car? One would hope not. Would AP President Thomas Curley be repulsed by pictures of one of his children being published under similar circumstances? Certainly! Ironically, probably all news organizations out of respect for the chief of AP would never publish any such photographs. Unfortunately, for the family of Lance Corporal Joshua Bernard they aren't related to someone high up in a news organization.
